Outdoors in the cold and wind of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, we walked and talked and ate cake and were a real family in person for the first time in 10 months. Masks went back on as soon as the cake was gone, but what a birthday gift it was while it lasted.

Fall in Creede
Despite coronavirus, we found some moments of joy this October by spending time with friends and in nature.
Friday night, we celebrated Shabbat and Sukkot, lighting candles, and dining al fresco while enjoying the setting sun from Isaac's hilltop home.
Jason played his guitar and sang, and we shared blessings for Ava and Jason's tenth wedding anniversary, which is next week on 10/10, the same date that Isaac and Lennon will marry.
The next day, we drove the 17-mile Bachelor Loop above Creede, where the leaves sparkled with spectacular fall colors.
The ruins of the old silver mines didn't disappoint either.
Jason, Ava and Miss Pickles posed by the Creede flume...
... while John and I posed for the obligatory selfie.

Creede scenes 2020
I guess if you need to get away from people, Creede, Colorado, is the place to be. Lots of sunshine, blue skies, open spaces, blooming wildflowers, interesting creatures and smiling faces.
Always great to visit with Matt and Johamy! And check out the beautiful deck and deck rail that Matt built at Isaac's house.
And one more, of me, as Sissiphys because, yes, sometimes life is like pushing a boulder uphill day after day.
You gotta have a sense of humor about it all. :)

Nowhere to Go But
Like the rest of the world, we're confined to home these days. Fortunately, we have a beautiful, safe home, so although it's disappointing to be stuck here, I really can't complain. Our plum tree was very generous to us this year, the garden is blooming, and I'm thrilled with our new kitchen paint.
Stay safe, stay healthy. I hope we will be together again soon.
We miss you and love you,
John & Lauren
