Steiff bears!
While our hearts remain with our friends and family in the US and Israel, we continue to enjoy our great European vacation. Salzburg has so much to do and see that we can’t capture it all in photos or a quick blog post. Nonetheless, here are some random pix.

Many, many structures are built into the stone cliffs.
Even the original structure built for the Salzburg Music Festival is built into the cliff.
Fun to imagine summers here with Richard Strauss and Von Hoffmanstahl premiering their operas.

“Pastry” of the day is nockrl, a light and fluffy dessert made with eggs that is sort of like a soufflĂ©, served with tart berries and yogurt. Although its hard to tell from this orange photo, nockrl is supposed to look like snow-capped mountains that encircle the city.
The nockrl topped off our best meal so far, at the St Peter Stiftkulinarum, which claims to be the oldest restaurant in all of Europe. Located in the old St Peter’s monastery complex, it was first mentioned as an abbey cellar in the year 803 in records written for Charlemagne. It has operated continuously as a wine cellar ever since, and now is one of Salzburg’s acclaimed eateries.
