Outdoors in the cold and wind of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, we walked and talked and ate cake and were a real family in person for the first time in 10 months. Masks went back on as soon as the cake was gone, but what a birthday gift it was while it lasted.

Fall in Creede
Despite coronavirus, we found some moments of joy this October by spending time with friends and in nature.
Friday night, we celebrated Shabbat and Sukkot, lighting candles, and dining al fresco while enjoying the setting sun from Isaac's hilltop home.
Jason played his guitar and sang, and we shared blessings for Ava and Jason's tenth wedding anniversary, which is next week on 10/10, the same date that Isaac and Lennon will marry.
The next day, we drove the 17-mile Bachelor Loop above Creede, where the leaves sparkled with spectacular fall colors.
The ruins of the old silver mines didn't disappoint either.

... while John and I posed for the obligatory selfie.
